It would be a lot cheaper to put them out when they are small than when they become out of hand. On top of that, the economic fallout of letting the fires burn has got to be ridiculous. The south entrance is now closed due to a fire. The lost revenue of turning 4,000 cars a day away has got to be astronomical. Plus the lost revenue in the park and the surrounding towns. On top of all that, the lost revenue for the next couple of years, when people don’t want to come to a burned out park, because that will be the perception of the tourists that would have thought of coming before you let these fires burn. What about the animals that these people come to see? A large part of them will either go somewhere else or starve to death because there summer forage is up in smoke. Your “natures course” is stupid when people have built there homes where these animals would have gone in the natural course of things. Another government agency not showing good stewardship.
