Lynette,

That’s too bad! You would want to contact Wyoming Game and Fish. Their number is (307) 733-2321. I hope this helps.

Jason

OMG,,,,!!! This happen to us back in May this year 2014, when we were just around the bend at Mormon Row!!! My boyfriend, a wildlife photographer, was taking some pictures of we thought baby fox nest under the house there at the corner of this beautiful place. And this crazy person came from the road in her vehicle where appeared she was sitting and watching, and called us every name in the book screaming at us, and was so much stressing the babies out!! Got her phone and said she was calling the rangers, couldn’t get a signal at the moment.
I mean this lady is CRAZY…!!!!

Some reporter has been talking to some of the photographers because they know they have goofed, and hopefully there will be a rebuttal in Wednesdays paper. The reporter stated “he didn’t make the headline” the editor did.

If I may speak facetiously, I would like to personally show the moose where the other side of the river is, as well as the east and west side of the campground so the poor moose can evade the evil photographers and campers.

I understand why visitors want to see at least one because they are majestic animals. Sometimes people get so wrapped up in watching them that they forget that these are very large, wild animals (that run amazingly fast). I have had the opportunity to see them without the crowds and had instances where they ran out in front of me. These are memories that I will never forget. I am saddened by what happened but am very sad by the fact that visitors will take away this memory of their first time seeing a moose. Instead of berating the visitors show them some consideration, educate them and make them aware that these things do happen. That they really have no control of the moose. That the story isn’t over, that calf still has the opportunity to meet up with a cow (because there are plenty of them here).

Bob – I don’t disagree that we all have a side and perspective on just about everything. I do have a dog in this fight. When I heard that tour businesses were being blamed as well as photographers it added to my initiative to find out what happened. I found source material from first hand witnesses that everyone can view on the blog to form their opinion about this accident. What is not fair is to blame a specific group of people for a specific accident because people somewhere else did something wrong at a different time. Yes, visitors get too close. Yes, most of them have cameras and are therefore ‘photographers’. Yes, sometimes guides don’t do a good enough job managing their guests. But from what I learned none of these things have anything to do with that happened in the GV Campground. Thanks for reading and taking the time to comment!
