Are you unable to see how having a wolf pick off a couple cows a night would have just as big of an impact on a Rancher? Imagine getting robbed every night and 500-1500 dollars gone. Wouldn’t take long before you’d start crying for the police to do something up to and including deadly force against that person. All these other states are trying to tell Wyoming how to manage our Animals and we do just fine. If you’re that concerned why don’t we plant a couple of these in your back yard e.g Central Park and see how you like it. That is basically what the feds did to ranchers.

Please think about what these Animals “DO” on this Earth. Without these Animals, the Livestock will be “EXPOSED” to DISEASED RODENTS and other SICK ANIMALS. “We Humans” will be infected by Disease & SICK Livestock and innocent Hunters could be bringing SICK & diseased Elk, Deer ext…. Home to feed our Families. There is “NO AMOUNT OF MINEY OR POWER ” that can fix and stop the Damage that has Been done nor can it be reversed once it’s done for our children’s future.

In Europe we are shocked by government (FWS and BLM) extermination of the natural world in so much of USA; really time they stopped helping and subsidising farmers whose attitude should disqualify them from the countryside. Live with nature or go live in the city, you cowboys.

Honest science and ethical values that embrace the entire circle of life demand permanent protection of wolves and Grizzlies and sage grouse and prairie dogs and all native wildlife that belong here in what is their homeland, too. I encourage readers here to Google: Rally for Wolves in DC YouTube. Thanks for this great post!

Just take a lesson from Africa and other nations that have decimated their wildlife and now are trying to reestablish them. How does a few balance out the majority in allowing the hunt of these beautiful creatures and others. Let the world come back into a balance and we wont have to support the care and feeding of the elk so that there will be plenty for the few hunters that support these gruesome occupation and pastime. And by the way, why are we still supporting the grazing of unnatural animals in the west to provide the nation with hamburgers, Bison can be a much better choice and will help to return the natural prairie.

As a society, we need to get over our fear of the big bad wolf and realize that wolves in the environment are an economic plus to our economy, and a benefit to our wildlife. Biodiversity is important and apex predators have an important part to play in keeping our wondrous ecosystem healthy. Thanks for posting this article. I would suggest that all who read it should share it widely.

The loss of civil liberties of outfitters livlihoods and families trying to feed their families from the elk population in Idaho because of the DEVASTATION of the elk herds on public lands due to the extreme overpopulation of wolves is far more relevant than wolves acting like wolves should (showing proper fear and respect of humans) making it so a few tourists can’t photograph their wolf. Well consider the tourist whom travels to see elk and moose, ah, irrelevant to the wolf pimp right.

This is a loss of our civil liberties to be able to enjoy these animals, and for businesses to profit from them being alive.. I apprecieate this article and the thoughtful comments from others. Sharing..

I was just going to write the same thing. This is a very well written, highly resourced treatise. I’ve been searching for just such an article/source of economic impact data for some time. Sharing widely (including legislature)….hope it makes the papers. Much gratitude
